W&RSETA Food Safety Training

The TMLT Team proudly took part in the W&RSETA Food Safety Training, an experience that deepened our understanding of hygiene, compliance, and safe food handling. The program highlighted how food safety is not only about protecting consumers but also about strengthening township and rural economies.

Throughout the sessions, we learned practical methods to prevent contamination, gained clarity on national and municipal regulations, and explored strategies to grow food-related businesses sustainably. The training also emphasized entrepreneurship, showing how small enterprises can thrive while maintaining high safety standards.

Equally valuable was the chance to connect with fellow participants—spaza shop owners, street vendors, and small processors—who share the responsibility of building healthier food systems. For us, the training was more than an educational exercise; it was a call to action. We left committed to applying these principles, advocating for safer practices, and supporting initiatives that uplift local communities.

This experience reaffirmed that food safety is central to both public health and economic resilience, and the TMLT Team is ready to carry these lessons forward.
